Hardtail Haul to Invercargill Empty
PostSubject: Hardtail Haul to Invercargill   Hardtail Haul to Invercargill EmptyMon Nov 29, 2010 9:35 pm

Fark where do I start, boarded the ferry last wednesday 2 shovels one a hardtail(mine) and a swingarm my mate mark on his roadqueen and john on his late thunderbird unloaded my bike of my ute at picton and continued to blenheim and stopped at big bore bikes on the main rd as we were having a problem with hemi's shovel starting some new plugs and a condensor and it still wouldn't start on the kickstarter but give it a good push and it would start easy so we decided to continue with hemi leading us,fanged on down the coast to kaikoura all going well apart from my bike going through the fuel so we hit the road for our next stop in amberly sitting on about 65-75 mph made it to ashburton for the nite and went and had a good feed and back to the motel for a few beers then called quits for the nite.I was up bright and early and pulled hemi's carb to bits found nothing out of the ordinary so it was back to pushing him to start it (fuck I hate s+s carbs oops sorry woody) my bike was running well apart from it's appetite for petrol, and the other two guys where impressed with how a hardtail handled. We decided to head straight to inercargill turning of at clinton and heading the back way this was where I struck the wetest roadworks ever fark no fr guard was I covered in shit, and we had to stop and put hemi's bike on the ute as it developed a ticking from the fr cylinder and I informed him it was better to be safe than sorry so we went to hemi's workshop that nite and took the mtr out for me to check and find out the problem and this is where the alcahol takes over as the maori had to jump in his 520 cubic inch dodge dart and impress the nth islanders,he lit up outside his w/shop and drove down the rd when he turned it around and hit the gas it went all wrong destroying a lampost and a fence post so we got the car quickly tucked away and hemi feeling sorry for him self.We went down to the beach racing fri morn as the tide's made the racing start at 10 heap's of people were checking out the critter with a few people asking where I had come from "wellington was my reply" only to be greeted with shake's of the head then of to a barby for more drinking.Saturday went to the road racing and then speedway, sunday morning chucked hemis mtr on my ute filled up and hit the rd to get up to amberly,by this time my ass was getting sore so I was moving around quite a bit not much padding on that seat, just out of oamaru we stopped for petrol and I had noticed I didn't really have a back brake Hmm better check this fark Its covered in oil my catch bottle had filled up and was puking everywhere so drained it and thought oh well the fr still works good also at this time noticed my tank was vibrating more than normal most of the rubbers were fucked so stopped at a servo at kaikoura and cut a bit of rubber out of an old tyre this helped but wasn't ideal.Made it to our motel in amberly and thought my headlight was wobbling a bit checked it out and it was split around the mount I guess that's what happens when the shells alloy also my digital speedo was working sometimes so will have to check that out,oh yea and at this time I also found a broken wire on the tailight.Zipptied the headlight to my clutch cable and hope the rest didn't crack and made the final push to picton it was still sitting on 65-80mph and pulling like a schoolboy at least the mtrs good and this being its 1st big shakedown run a nice 2000km ride it was all good and so for the rest of the week I have to fix it,clean it and get it ready for woody'show and my ass, shouders and back are killing me but all I can say is WHO'S COMING WITH ME NEXT YEAR and see you on sunday cheers doug.
