What would you folks expect to pay for a 250 rebel?

I've come across a 250cc rebel for sale privately, and apparently the only thing wrong with it (and thus not being used) is it is missing a bolt from the gear shift. Apart from that, it just looks a bit worn with a bit of rust here and there.

Planning to grab it and take it to my workshop and test over the electrics and charge the battery and fire it up. Assuming the engine goes..

What would you pay?

Originally thought it'd be a good new donor bike for the dirty bastard project... but it's so tidy I think I'm gonna have to build myself a custom bobber. The dirty bastard wasn't something I was taking serious anyway.

Older 250 rebels usually go for around 1800-2500, depending on condition. Privately 1500-2000 is reasonable; dealers usually want 2500 or more.
If you get it for 1500 or less would be considered a good deal; occasionally people let them go for under a thousand for a quick sale.
The rebel 250 is a bulletproof motor, not fast, but capable enough.
They have an excellent US forum for resources.
The motors sound good with aftermarket mufflers (super quiet with stock ones).
And as u already know they lend themselves well to bobbers.

Unfortunately, my V4 honda shits all over anything Triumph has to offer in any similar bike.

Hoping to acquire the bike sometime this week. Gonna grab the new prospect and get him to give me a hand with either getting it running to ride or putting it on a trailer to bring back to my workshop.

All going well, I've already got a lot planned including a flamer exhaust, full frame mod with hard tailing, and what I think will work out to be a very cool paint job (using "chrome" paint, cheese cloth, dull gray paint, letter stencils, and black paint).

Had the damn thing on my mind since I saw it. Ready to get stuck into it!!
