I need suggestions for names for the two classes for the show: running bikes and inprogress bikes. Any suggestions?

Maybe a better idea just to have it like an exhibition with a band and beer rasther than a bike show/competition?

Easiest option. I just get a space (probably shed 5), get some of us together to set up our bikes/projects, and advertise. Beer, band and burgers are easy to organise. Still want to do it around September.

i reckon u should do it a bit like this.
ie. people bring their bikes on say, a Thurs, or Friday, park them up, show runs Fri - Sun, have voting papers & voting boxes there, for visitors to use, voting ends say 6 or 8pm Sat, announce best in each category later Sat night (put notices on winners bikes so Sunday visitors can see who won categories).
ask people from this forum to MAKE the trophies (from wrenches, parts, pistons etc) (old custom painted helmets...)
have classes on the voting form like

mild (light modification)
wild (extensive modification)
old n bold (classics)
neo garage (modern bikes)

& of course best overall

is this helping people's creative juices to flow?

you could of course have the bikes on show at Deus from Mon right thru Sun if Deus happy with that.
or let people bring them in during the week as & when they're ready?
people would need to pre register so Deus knew how many bikes they were gonna have to make room for

1 cent: I reckon the exhibition/display is the way to go while we are still a young club and in the eyes of the rest of the world reasonably new to the scene. I know there are people that have been doing this for years but i mean the general public havent really known what a bobber is till just recently.

2 cents: We dont want it to look like a competition, by us, for us, featuring us and the prizes go to............US!
we want to draw the punters in to see what a diverse scene it can be, not something with limits or strict rules to what constitutes the style.

3 cents: If its just our bike this year. ours and a few newbies next. ours, last years newbies and some new newbies the year after that. next thing we know its an annual event like the Blowout that started at club level and is now too big for most venues.

3 cents worth

don't be shy

i agree that it's best not to be too ambitious in the first year.
i agree bout the rules not being too strict too, so if we're not too anal about our classes, & allow for the average monkey to put his shed built/modded bobber/racer/chopper etc in, I think we can get some other entries in. i just met another dude today with an iron883 that's being turned into a chop, there's a lotta dudes out there
if Shed 5/Deus are happy for us to plonk a whole bunch of bikes there for the week, that's not too hard to do, & it provides a point of interest for all their punters who are in & outta there all week long

just one other suggestion - I guess when people register they should put forth a pic of their build - & state what was home built or modified on it, so you can decide if it's mild or wild (if u allow for mild you'll get all the dudes who might not be WCC yet but are givin it a pretty good go)

Yeah, I agree with most of that. Mostly because I don't see enough people putting up their hands to enter something from our lot. I also agree that there's a big risk with people thinking that we would be biased.
I think it needs to be a one day thing though. Too hard to get people to commit to a few days. I know I'd have a problem with that. It would also be a problem to get a venue for that amount of time when we don't have any money to put up. Putting up a picture and a description of what was done on teh bike was always part of it. For planning purposes I can't wait till th eday of the event to see who's going to turn up. That would make me and the venue look stupid and end any chance of maaking it bigger next year.
Bottom line is that the exhoibition thing looks like the best option. Now who is interested? Let's see some pics of the projects we want to enter.

Oh well i tried to offer some constructive suggestions Laughing
yeah there doesn't seem to be much interest from this forum, but I keep meeting people who are doing cool stuff, some who aren't on the forum yet, I've been telling them about the grinderfest comp (or what was a comp), I'll keep telling people about it as much as I can, the 'scene' is certainly out there, I just can't believe how many people are coming outta the woodwork who are building modded bikes, so something is happening out there

Hi

I'm happy to put this bike up for the exhibition if it's about getting interest and more people outta the woodwork. Also it'd be a good opportunity for all the GMs to catch up.

I'm not planning to spend much more time (or money) on this ride as I'm saving for a bigger bike ... cheers
