Here's my build. Most of you guys have seen the start on the other forum, I've taken the turn signals off, one of the mirrors off, saddle bags off, Painted the battery cover and headlight peak satin black, got my spare tank painted satin black.

i made the 2" lift kit today, still need to paint them...you guessed it satin black.

lookin good Shaun, nuthin like satin black, always a good choice.
are u gonna put lower shocks on, or struts, or leave as is?
i could picture it a bit lower at the rear, and with a minimal or bobber type seat, that's just me

yeah i will prob make up some struts for round town cruzing, the back end really needs to come down. wouldnt mind cutting down a fender as well, want to keep at least one stock fender in case the fuzz give me shit and i need a quick WOF. going to make the side mount next week too.

If anyone has a spare rear fender for XL let me know.

been looking for one for months myself!
what year is your sporty?
the other way to lower it without losing comfort would be a lowering kit

Hey, what a project... now where have I seen all the same traits... you will get adicted... this is going to be so much fun, lol....

Yep already not looking like the same ride, doesn’t take much. Well done.

Watching with interest... go on woody, tell him...

Its a 95, thought about a lowering kit, i can get it lower with struts but then i have to keep changing them over if i want to ride long distance. i wont put a spring seat on it, they sit to flat and dont look right i reckon

cheers jon, yeah it will look similar to yours, before your makeover that is. they are so simple and the cool mods are the popular ones, it seems like we all have similar bikes but i think thats only because we are always on here talking and looking at them, i wouldnt pass anything on the road in palmy that looks like mine or yours or anyones for that matter.

there will only be a handfull of cool bobbers cruzing around and they seem to belong to all of us. COOL!

yeah lowering kit is good if u wanna use it longer distance and keep your riding comfort etc, and saves changing things around. I have 11" BT type shocks on my sporty & it's a hard ride, and that's not even struts
the absolute best setup i heard is road king 12" air shocks with 1" lowering kit, i started lookin round for some but didnt stay committed. it looks good and is comfortable.
and they're satin black Laughing

That's funny. I just caught up with this thread now and I was just thinking that this is where Jon61 started.
I also quite like that ugly thing but then, most anything with 2 wheels has potential.

the coolest i reckon. shame the stupid yanks dont think so, when Shinya and Joe martin had a build off Shinya's bike was a thousand times cooler, but because Martin had a thousand coats of paint and was real shinny he won. i was very pissed when that happened. Zero bikes RULE!

yeah i saw that episode, and thought the same thing. also one episode there was a woman builder who built a very old school red bike with girder forks, magneto, kick start etc, prob one of the best bikes in the series in my opinion, and it lost to the same kinda forgettable bike you were saying that Shinya lost to.
Zero's bikes are in Iron Man's garage tho, on Iron man 1 bounce

Damn maintenance getting in the way of customising!

gave the old girl some new front brake pads today, the old ones prob only had half a dozen more applications left in them.

also threw a new choke cable on it, the old one had been done up to tight and broke the bit that keeps tension on the rod, just cause its got ape hangers doesnt mean people need to tighten it up like a gorilla!!

gave the carby a huck out too, heaps of black shit under the diaphram

I did exactly the same think on my Springer. That was over a year ago and I still have to hold it out to start the bike.
