Practically anything works but best to use some sort of rubber cement as that allows what you're sticking to move around a bit and not be affected by vibrations.

ok so I went to hardware store & the only thing I can find that says it glues rubber to metal is kwik grip contact glue. Im not sure about it.
There are also some epoxy based araldites there.
Would it be best to abrase the surfaces a bit first?
Anyone actually done this ? (glued knee rubbers to a tank painted in lacquer)
Im in the process of painting the tank & I dont wanna stuff up the paintjob with a failed gluing job.
Help please.

yeah, epoxy based though so the only way it would ever come off the tank again would be with a grinder
