PostSubject: XS250 Bobber Build   XS250 Bobber Build EmptySun Sep 25, 2011 12:13 pm

picked up this non regd xs250 from one of the forum members!

runs ok but im going to pull it all apart and make a proper hardtail out of it, its just a project bike not a day to day thing

plans are,

new hardtail maybe extend the wheel longer?
new tank less cafe more chopper
new headlight smaller
new rear gaurd
new handlebars
new exhaust run horizontally
powdercoat frame and wheels
polish or paint motor
get the mechanics all working well oil plugs pads
carby trumpets or filters

trademe prices are overkill so ive got a mate in the us that ill get all the parts i need to buy from ebay and shipped at once

plan is to go pretty stealth and on a budget on this and most parts will be welded or custom led tail lights and indicators on plate etc

will put pics up soon

see infront of the carbs? how would i replace that? i dunno what to look for if there universal etc..
also could im thinking of using a different brake master cylinder and handle?
what about replacing brake discs?

about to rip into it tonight or tomorrow so will post some updates along the way

search for 'carb intake boot xs250' I dont think they'll be universal?

different brake master cyl & handle is fine.

different disk rotor could be tricky

cool thanks! id like to remote mount the master cylinder under the tank or maybe go to a cable front brake its the only thing that will be out of place!

does anyone know where to get or make cheap / good pipe benders?

So bit of an update finally hopefully speed this up to get it done in time for some summer riding.

got the rear all chopped off and a new hardtail section chopped off a whole lot of other stuff too.

New tank, seat springs and headlight - going to make a seat

Pretty well set to finish this minus I wouldn't mind delooming and cleaning the wiring up? I need a different speedo etc and also some new brake pads.

this might end up at a bike shop at mates rates cos Im not too confident on getting it all sussed 100% and know a couple guys.

was thinking of big sports bike wheels brakes axles, front shocks and master cylinders etc but I just couldn't justify it for a 250.. Maybe on the next build ( xs650, then big iron harley )

couple pics - stoked on the tank how it looks on the bike size, how it sits etc!
