Brought the the engine down to bare cases. Replaced the oile seals, bearings, transmission and everything required to get the bottom end to OEM. Crank was stroked by Hawera Auto. Cases bored to accept an oversized YFM350 sleeve. Cylinder bored to accept a YFM overbore, forged JE Piston Head severley ported and polished. Oversized warrior valves ground in. Cam was custom ground by Weber Cams in California. Aftermarket springs and titanium retainers used. Final displacement is 388cc. After market clutch added. Kicker added. VM-34 setup by Sudco, velocity stack is made from a dairy flange. Frame was chopped in rear and tabs removed. CB250RS front rim used, respoked. Front rotor and double pot caliper added from a CB900C. New stainless line and NOS MC. CB250RS forks used, shaved and filled. SR250 triples reamed to accept them. CB250RS rear used, respoked. SR swing arm modified to accept. Manx handlebars with POSH internal switches New stainless exhaust with a Supertrap out of the US. Honda TL tank reworked, sprayed in a white base with heavy silver flake. | nice work bud yep I dont like the shape of the seat so much looking down on it, the polished / bare metal look would be cool tho. what about cutting out some shaped holes / patterns out of it? or otherwise cover one in leather or vinyl?

| yeah that's a very good look. haven't seen those Reynal bikes before, so cool, must have a look at some more. you obviously know your way around a motor, that 388cc from 250cc sounds pretty good, is it running now? have you tried it out? | |

| I have not started it. I have been operating under the assumption that it works. As soon as I get my alloy battery box back from the welder I can wire and start it. It's only a little thumper so there isn't too much that can go wrong. The engine turns freely, valves are clear, it shifts....not much else it needs to do. The hardest part was the compression. It's not easy to cc a head in an old NZ shed. I did my best to calculate 11:1, but then the valves hit the piston because of the agressive cam. It was a matter of recutting the pockets in the cylinder and playing with gasket heights. I estimate it's in the 10-10.5:1 range now. We'll see when it actually runs.... I'm finishing the exhaust hangers tonight then I can tig the damn thing, finally, tomorrow. From the amount of Harley's you guys are working on, I thought I'd post my other project. My mom was ncie enough to pose with it for the photo: | |

| Turns out I suck at tig welding. Luckily there was an engineer to help me clean them up at work. Exhaust is done. [img][/img] | |

| Quick question, what do you guys use to glue foam to the seat pans?
I sorted out the rear wheel axle spacers yesterday, everything's good now. I regret not pwder coating though, I'll be spending a week just touching up all the scratches and chips.
Rear light came in, I need to make up a bracket for it, also playing with speedo locations. I got the left side of the engine together, mounted the shifting mechanism I made and found it doesn't work! The damn foot pegs are mounted on rubber snubbers on an SR250 and when you go to shift with my new mid-sets the pegs deflect and it doesn't shift smoothly. I'll need to think up a plan B.
I want to get the seat pan glued up today so I can lay out the leather. Cam thanks for the leather tips. I could see why for an edge laced seat just taping it would work but I want to butt stitch the edges, so I need the leather pre-formed so it comes out clean. Your seat did come out nice, love the springer front end on that bike. More photos later.....

| Thanks for the glue tips. I actually didn't get far enough today to work on the seat. I got the rear light on with a new bracket and wires run, chain broken and rear wheel tensioned, both wheels aligned and rear brakes completely setup. Not the most productive day but I am getting to the pain in the ass jobs I've been putting off. I played with the shifter some more. A friend dropped by the shed today and pointed out that the linkage, in the photo, is actually shifting in reverse to the stock pedal. I thought it was shifting like crap when I couldn't find neutral. Turns out instead of 1 down 4 up, it's 1 up and 4 down. I'll see how it rides before I change it, sort of like it. What do you think of the speedo location? I need to design a bracket that fits the speedo and the dummy lights I need for the revin. | |

| yeah speedo looks good there I cant remember which glue it is that dissolves foam, when we were boatbuilding I knew which one it was & not to use it, but a test will tell ya anyway I know epoxy works fine with closed cell foam cos that's what we used to glue it with | |
