Xs650 tune up Empty
PostSubject: Xs650 tune up   Xs650 tune up EmptyFri Jan 13, 2012 8:57 pm

I've got my 78 xs650 running and Riding now,

Running pod filters and straight pipes with internal baffles,

She's running but she's rough,

Any tips on tuning the bike?

I've got a work shop manual for the bike but it's quite vague with the tuning,

Cheers!

Ok mate, You got CV carbs on this and they hate not having an air box. First off, you are now running too lean. You need to go a size bigger on the pilot jets. Raise the needels one slot and this will help. You might not get full throtle yet so try restricting the air flow thru the filters. Tape them up with masking tape untill it runs up to full speed. Takes time and a bit of shagin about, but its what i had to do to get my 07 bonnie running good after doing the same. Once its running sweet, I cut a bit of radiator hose and fitted inside the pod filters. Good luck mate.
