Hi
Just got my Matchless project in a state where it's safe to ride without anything falling off, so thought I'd put a few pictures in the project files. It's a 51 ridged frame with a 58 G80 500cc single motor which has a pre 51 rear sloping mag chain case because I like the way it looks with the way the high level pipe curves round, the cam has had a mild regrind for more power and a slightly higher comp piston fitted. It's got a 60's? AMC 4 speed box and the front hub is off an early Commando as is the kick start. The girder front end is an early 40's Norton which I got from e bay and put some flat drag bars on, got the tank from some dude in India on ebay as well, painted the scallops on the tank myself but did a sh1t job so got the local panel beater to re-do it. The mudguard stays are made from our TV Ariel which was an awesome idea because the missus could not watch shorty any more so now we have sky. I ate only ham sandwich's or 2 min noodles for the first 6 months of last year to pay for the rims which are 19 inch alloy valanced and were laced up and pin striped by a guy who lives just out side of Palmy. The tail light is a model A and the bracket is a replica early Triumph. It dosen't leak oil it's just marking it's teritory.
My plan is for it to share a plate with another bike but if anyone has any tips on how to get it certed without it being to painfull then I'd be real happy to hear them. Also if anyone around the Manawatu want's to meet up for a ride/beer or just to talk bikes/sh1t then let me know.
Cheers
Geezer

Excellent Gezer. I love it. Pete will maybe get jealous now and tidy his Matchie up. One of the boys is looking for something similar to build up for the trip from Vladivostok to Paris next year.

btw, regarding easier vinning, try talking to the VCC. They issue identity cards which are recognised by the vin inspectors which make vinning for older bikes much easier, & they are very helpful. Costs $100. They also do the lighting endorsements for 77 & prior. You would need to convince them that the bike has been customized within a certain style that is applicable to it's age.
