Hi all, been looking to build a chopper for a few years and been gathering parts over the last 6, finally moved to place with a big enough garage that I can begin!

Gonna be my first build, so the learning curve is steep, the learning’s painful and the only solace is beer when I realise I have made another mistake!

All good though, nothing I would rather be doing.

This site is awesome, been browsing through the threads and what you guys are doing is amazing, I hope you all will put up with some really dumb questions and give me some pointers?

Using a S&S 107" with an Ultima Powertrain, and been spending huge on postage to get things from the States, so finding out where I can source things (and advice!) locally would be great.

I will post some pics of my stumbling build soon!

So greetings all, looking forward to chatting.

Based in Lower Hutt Wellington btw.

Cheers.

Welcome to the site. The local shop you need to check out is Harley speed and custom. The boys there are very helpful. There are plenty of guys on here with great talent and full of information also

Thanks guys, feel waaay more confident now, been looking through some of the builds you guys have done and with some advice from HSC I reckon I am on the right track!

Ordered a fork stop plate for my front end, and when that arrives I will begin putting the bike together and start posting pics. Gonna be a bit of a stop and go as I save for parts and add them, but I can start putting what I have together.

Looking forward to taking a ride out to HSC on Saturday and talking to the guys there, couple of immediate pointers and advice will only help!

Thanks for all the responses guys, I thought I was all alone here in the Hutt, but now I feel downright common!

For now!

Gonna have to forward that to a bro in the UK, just to show him that the UK ain't got shit!

All the powdercoating was done by my friend burt at powder surfaces here in upper hutt and the paint on both bikes was done by chris at d-zine signs here in upper hutt so there are people around wgtn who do good work.
