Another petrol head Empty
PostSubject: Another petrol head    Another petrol head EmptySun May 19, 2013 11:38 pm

Gidday all

A wee note about myself... I'm not a chopper or bike nut never really got road riding kinda why I never did anything with my learner licence, had it now for 22yrs
What I am is a petrol head and the worst type... if it has a motor and it moves (I would say wheels but I have even modified my digger) I have to modify it, it got that bad I now modify other peoples toys to pay for my shed lol

This is where the bike comes in
The $1000 challenge, started on a friday night in the shed with some mates on the piss, they were complaining about the cost of modifying and cert, me being a man up for a challenge started off betting them I could heavily modify a vehicle for $1000 by the end of my box I was up too " for a $1000 I could buy, modify and cert a vehicle...."
At the time I had a daft idea about building a 2 up front trike powered by a 13bt rotory motor that you ride like a bike (well outside the $1000 budget lol), but I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, win the bet and finish my bike licence I'll need the licence to ride the trike if I ever build it lol
So put the word out.... after a bit a mate gave me the word about an old DR250 that was mostly there.... carb was shot and there is that little compression you could turn it over on the kick start with your pinky finger lol but at two box's of woodies it was priced right
That was the start.... as it sits there is a heap of stories in it and i've still got $120 in the budget
It got pushed aside due to work and other projects but due to my back playing up I'm back into it...

Cheers Reece

Here she sits frame mostly done just a few mounting points etc
Got the seat at home just doing a bit of leather work on it, then I'm going to mount the new motor in it, pic'd up a motor off a mate deal was I had to part out all the other parts of the bike and I got the motor.... turned out the motor was near on the only good part of the bike so still working on a price... I'm trying to convince him to hang onto a project long enough I can trade him some engineering work Laughing

The new motor in front on the ground is an electric start DR200

If you'd like I'll throw up a build thread... I'm not going to be too fast as I'm off with a buggered back Rolling Eyes

Cheers Reece

We haven't had many build threads in in while so that would be good. Nice stance on that frame.
