Have the triumph running aml 930 carb starts after 1 or 2 kicks running ok then starts to foul up after about 20-30 seconds and as soon as it dies it spits fuel out into the air box?

Have you cleaned the carb(s)? If the fuel is coming out the air filter it means for whatever reason, the valve is shut or the carbs blocked somewhere, that the fuel isn't being sucked in. The other possibility is that if the carb is old, the slide has worn the throttle body out of round. Have seen that before. I'll ask Al The Neighbour tomorrow.

Just another thought, how old are the electrics?the neighbours and I all found the electrics on Triumphs are shit and replaced ours. I had no end of problems with the electrics on the Bonnie until I ditched the whole loom and got a new one and went to electronic ignition. Best thing for it ever. Every one goes on about Lucas electrics being rubbish, but I read a book that had the letters from Lucas, to Triumph, telling them that the components they were buying weren't up to motorcycle spec and they needed to buy heavier duty parts, designed for bikes. The tight ass management at Triumph didn't want to spend the money so we ended up with the cheaper, inferior electrics.

well looke at the timing and got the strobe light onto it and was very slightly out fired it up and ran slightly better and then just died tried to start again and no go pulled plugs look fine kicked over and no spark on right hand plug shoot down picked up a plug fired up straight away and seems to be running sweet so not totally sure weather it was timing slightly out or if it was the plug piss me off if it was the plug as it was brand new and irdium so not cheap will let you know how it goes after a good ride
