What chemicals do you guys use? - on paint - not for fun!

Its a Yamaha XT250 tank and Im going to have a crack at a bare metal finish with some detail on it.

The paint looks to be original with an extra coat some time later.

I was going to sand it all off but as Im doing bare metal I dont want those shitty circular marks like you see in shit bog jobs.

So chemicals it is as its a cheap home practice job so I dont want to pay for a blast job.

Cheers. Might even have a suitable sickle to put it on soon!

It works but its still a bugger to get through that last layer. Most time they don't use primer but there's some sort of bonded metalic stuff on there. I nearly always have to sand at least some of it off.

The top coat (brushed on with a cauliflower) and the original are off.
Good old polystrippa

it does have an odd finish now so Ill hand sand some bits and see how it goes.

I've found that covering the tank in paint stripper then wrapping the whole deal in glad wrap really works well. Give it a try you'll be impressed. Wink
