Aftermarket frame legalities. Empty
PostSubject: Aftermarket frame legalities.   Aftermarket frame legalities. EmptySat May 29, 2010 7:55 pm

Hey, I'm looking at getting a sporty that's has a rego and a wof and a Paughco frame. Now can anyone tell me how I'm gonna go when it comes to getting the bitch on the road. Has anyone here already done this conversion? I'm figuring it'll need a cert, which is no prob, but I'm just wondering how a change of frame number will go etc.

Cheers, Paulo

I've 3 bikes that need to go through the same process. Cert and re-registeras far as I understand it.

Sounds good Irish. Have any of you guys had any luck with weld on hardtails? I've been reading that Paughco's can be low to the ground, like TOO low (I'm not scared of low but wanna turn corners too).
A weld on looks like a good start.

Sara's Flyrite is 4 inches off the ground and there's loads of them in the States. I had a Paughco big twin rigid that was the same. I put 4 over fork tubes on as it looked too low to me. I think the Paughco Sporty frame has a lot more space underneath it.

Like Irish said 4" is the least amount of ground clearance you want on a rigid, Well that is if you want to ride it anywhere at speed. I use 4" on all my bikes but you still have to watch things like Cats eyes especially if you have forward controls and big feet (dragging your heels through corners feels cool until your heel hits a cats eye as speed causing you to knee your self in the head) I'm running mids on my new build precisely for this reason. Wink Hope this helps.
