I was thinking that to kick off the communal garage thing I could organize a group bike build. If you look at the Kustom Kommune ans Sunrise Workshop sites in Oz they were both given bikes by Harley and asked to get anyone interested at their shops, to turn that bike into whatever they liked.

It would be good to get a group of guys together in Auckland and Wellington and do the same. I doubt if anyone will give us a bike but I'll chase Harley and Triumph up anyway. More likely if we can just use one of our own bikes. The Auckland guys could use Salt Lake Cycles to build our bike since I've got the tools, donor bikes and a beer fridge. I'm sure the Wellington crew could sort a place out as well.

It would at least start to get us all together and might end up creating a couple of cool bikes and having a laugh along the way.
What do you think? Anyone up for it?

Talked to a few people yesterday at Rumble in the Alley and looks like this will work. Biggest concern would be who owns the bike when it's finished. I suppose it depends on what everybody puts in. If someone provided the bike and all the parts it would still belong to them. If people were just putting in time then they would be just going it for the fun of it and the parties. If people shared any costs they should get a share of whatever the bike gets sold for. We can work all of that out.

I was thinking that if we did one in Auckland and Wellington we could all meet up, say in Tauranga for a final party/camping weekend around end of February, early March. It would be good to catch up with everyone involved. Might even be other places like Hamilton or Nelson that might want to get involved.

If they got sold for charity you might get some corporate sponsor for parts/doner bike.
Would get some interest in you're workshop to.
