| There are a lot of very talented people out there and some of them are into building bikes. It's time to start sharing all that stored knowledge so we will be kicking off a series of in-house learning sessions just for us bike nuts. The first one is an invitation from the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club courtesy of Horace. On 18th Feb the guys are holding a session on motorcycle electrics at Retro Scooters at 5 Newton Road. Grey Lynn at 6:30. I will post the agenda tomorrow. Liam Venter will be running the session.
We will also be running a class in Tig welding for beginners at Salt Lake Cycles. Collin will be brining in his gear and some steel so everyone can have a go. That will most likely be a Sunday afternoon session if that suits everyone.
We want to run more of these sessions so if you have some tricks and tips to pass along give us a shout on here and we will arrange something. Remember that we will also be starting the club build of our Harley cafe racer and we want to get as many people involved as possible.

| Damn geography, I won't be able to make it to the electrics evening.
Would it be possible to have the welding session the same Sunday as our next monthly meeting?

| A big thanks to Colin for his expertise and use of his TIG welder today at the "Learn something new" session. Personally it took me twice touching the ceramic part of the handle and the tip to the material at the same time to work out it's not a good idea, thanks Colin for being so patient.
A good turn out considering the weather started to look ugly at the end.
Be sure to come along next month with your ideas for the Grease Monkeys show bike. I've already started sharpening my crayons.
Also, a big thanks to Jon and Sara for opening the doors and making us all feel very welcome at Salt Lake Cycles workshop.
Looking forward to our next catch up.

| Looking to run the next session around 12th April. This will be the first session on designing a Grease Monkey show bike based on a 1975 rigid Harley Shovelhead. We will mostly be using parts that are lying around the shop but the emphasis is on making as many of the parts as possible. I'd particularly like people to look at individual pieces like brackets that could be made differently to add a bit of style and individuality over the standard catalogue parts that anyone can get. This is our chance to learn new skills and make our mark on the custom bike scene. We should at least try and get the bike in one of the magazines at least. So, dig out the colouring pencils and start making a few drawings to bring next month. We will discuss everyone's ideas and come up with a plan.
Cheers Irish | |

| Jon & Sara, once again, many thanks for the venue. (The club bike is probably worthy of it's own thread.)
Colin, thank you so very much, not only for the teaching, but for helping with my parts. Cheers mate.
