Am finally entering madness, with the idea to turn my stock 1996 Harley 883 Sportster into a cafe racer/adventure beast..
I'm
really not mechanically minded, so this is going to be a bit of a learning curve.. A big shout out to IrishJon- You and that place are fantastic beyond description!
This is probably going to be a comedy of errors thread- So sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
And start the photos...
...After much procrastination, deliberation and unforced errors, the build finally began with a slightly shakey start.
She's completely stock, but gets me places and in to trouble (and usually back, although not this day)...
My garage is non-existant, so taking advantage of Irishjon's awesomeness. Got out to Salt-Lake and promptly forgot to take any photos.
Got the seat & rear fender off and replaced the old rear shocks..
Tank and old handlebars are gone (which I was very tired of) and replaced with a set of freshly broken clip-ons... Loved them as they were, but apparently about to receive a shiny set of after market bolts....
Now we're deciding on final seat geometry and shape. There's a vague idea of how this ends, but in execution the greatest plans come undone.
Am still undecided about whether we go for the signature:
Or a fuel range that will get me to
and from the shops:
It's going to go to a bit of a break while I move into a place with a better gallery (and less bizarre flatmates). So it's time to attack the print-offs with a marker and see how it turns out...
