| Anyone know which would be the best place to get male 2 and 4 pin Deutsch Connectors for Harleys. And anyone know how you attach wires into the things? Do I have to go to AMPS? Dick Smiths? | |

| You can get the plugs from W&W but you still need 2 different pliers to fot them and they are really expensive. Unless you are doing loads you'd be better to go to AMPS. | |

| Thanks Jon. Yeah I think I'll try AMPS, cos then they'll already have wires on them. Didnt realize you needed those plier thingies for them. I always have to go to my happy place when they tell the price of things at AMPS...I wonder how much they'll want for bits of the wiring harness for the tailight & turn signal wiring? | |

| I just cut them off and use cheap connectors. I checked out the pliers. The real one is 370 Euros and the cheap one, which looks like a normal pair of crip pliers, is 93 Euros. I think you could probably use a normal crimp pliers and buy the plugs. Which ones are you looking for? | |

| I know that AMPS sells the connector kits for you to make them up. No idea on price though. | |

| yeah cheap connectors is one option, but... I want to be able to swap the original rear fender with it's tailight & turn signals back & forth with the clean fender & it's side mount lite etc. So my thinking was to unplug the 2 turn signal & 1 taillight plug, then wire up the alternate ones to some male deutsch plugs that would then plug into the existing female sockets. So I can swap the setups back & forth easily, as necessary. So Im basically looking for 2 two pin & 1 four pin deutsch with wires on them. I think they would need to be male but i havent pulled them apart on the bike yet to check. I guess what I would need from amps would be the tailight board to main harness wires. ACTUALLY, im thinking now that on an 03 sporty it might be a 6 pin that runs from the main wiring to the taillight. (it then gets split inside the taillight) so it's probably a 6pin with wires that im lookin for. | |

| Somebody was selling them on Trademe last year after they had rewired their bike. It was around $250 so that Ebay ad was cheap. | |

| Yeah good on you Scotty. I think that if you are going to be doing quite a lot of this & you want to keep the wiring nice & tidy, waterproof etc, then it's a good idea to get the tool & do it properly. What I decided to do was buy a 2nd hand rear wiring harness. Im gonna cut into the wires connected to the deutsch plug, connect my new setup to that & maybe use some heatshrink etc. It achieves my aim of being able to swap easily between what will be my two fender/lighting setups. | |
