Cafe'd Ducati Empty
PostSubject: Cafe'd Ducati   Cafe'd Ducati EmptyWed Jan 06, 2016 9:14 pm

Thought I'd share some of the process I have been going through with my bike - It was a 1992 ducati 900ss - non original but in pretty good nick - I hated the rear end and wanted to see more metal - and have been inspired by the bikes on bikeexif

My process has not been to have a clear idea and build the bike from the ground up  - hope to do so one day - but has been alot more trial and (lots of!) error  - more an evolving process with the bike not being off the road for too long - and have worked on whatever I think helps improve the look and feel of the bike as I go along

It is a blast of a bike to ride

Here is an earlier version with a bikini faring and red rear seat cowl

Here is an early dash

Just having stripped the paint on the tank

Stripped with no bikini  - sounds good!

With a pack rack almost ready for a trek ... over 3000 kms if all goes well

Have replaced the dash with one that has tacho and speedo

Next targets for evolution include sorting out the colours of frame/wheels - gold wheels maybe  ...  replacing plastic with metals ... redo seat cowl  ...  sorting out all the wiring properly  ...

In a couple of days I am going to ride the bike from north of Auckland down to Cromwell - or at least that is the aim. Hopefully down the West Coast ..... and maybe up the East Coast of the North  - depending on what state the bike and the rider are in ....

Should be one hell of a ride   Twisted Evil  cheers

Good looking bike and as long as you like it, that's what counts. Looks a bit quick for me though ! Wink Enjoy your trip..
