| Just got my new wof & I would like to recommend KTL Bikes in Western Springs. They check all the safety stuff thoroughly, but they are not anal about side mounted plate & tail light & suchlike. They are fast & efficient, cheaper than the testing station, & did a couple of the things that needed doing, on the spot, for the price of the Sportster clutch lever that they changed out ($30). Couldn't ask for better. You don't have to book either (unlike the place I used to go to). | |

| That'd actually be a good thing to add to the magazine website - a list of bike friendly WOF places across NZ! | |

| Have to be careful about calling them bike "friendly", WOF auditors know how to read too, would hate for them to be targeted, maybe we should keep it word of mouth, just for us cool cats | |

| yeah agreed, but actually these guys are quite fussy about the safety aspects, and are complying bikes all the time, so would be known by the powers that be anyway. I got failed on some stuff that the testing station & other bike shop used to let me through for, and they checked heaps more than the others ever have (eg. went over the entire drive belt). The thing is, they're not being anal about a vertical plate, which is legal anyway, and the local bike shop wouldn't give me one for the side mount plate, even though there's nothing legally preventing it. So bike friendly yes, but no shortcuts. | |

| Well its pretty easy to word it -
"Recommended WOF stations for motorcyclists"
with a subheading "Go to the right people to get the right job done"
I took my other bike I had to AA... what a mistake. He said he can't pass me simply because I had custom exhausts on it. I said to him that he can't do that - it's under the dbA rating. He said their policy was non-stock exhausts can't be passed.
So now I take my bikes to a place diagonally across from Radical Customs (recommended by RC) and have had no problems for last few years.

| Yeah the worst places are the ones that dont know the rules very well or arent confident in their decisions so they opt for the easy option, pass it if its stock otherwise you "MIGHT" get in trouble.
some places have no common sense, my lincoln passes a wof with no wipers, tinted windows and chrome headlight covers, this is where common sense comes in, i can remove the covers in 5 sec, the wipers are in the trunk and it takes another 5 sec to put them on, and tints can be put back on after the wof. simple if you have a brain and know how to use it
