So, I bought this:



Stripped it down to this:



Cut it in half to weld on new hardtail section:



Mocked up frame:

Karl and Dan (fevah) came over and played with stuff:



That is all for now. Will hopefully get the frame welded up by someone that knows what they're doing and then start with mounting new oil tank, seat etc.

Cool start. How much stretch is there on that rear section?

Yep was on TM. Cleaned the starter solenoid and it fired up mint.

Made good progress this weekend Got the seat, oil tank and gas tank all mounted today. Still need to lower the front

Anyone got a good trick to get the blue shit off the whitewall?

scrubbing brush and jif or dish wash liquid works good

i have about three foot of a modelA spare wheel cover if ya want it.they make good guards with a rib in the middle(well it would'nt be on the fucken side would it)hmmm a rib on the side that would be different.but seriously i just flick up the end sometimes drill a few speeed holes(i luv holes they are the shit.it may be a bit short for ya bro but you can have it if ya want.and yes i am drunk while writing this .so if you want it better hurry up before i sober up.

Dropped the engine in today so I can start sorting brackets, oil lines, etc. The mounts all lined up perfect which was a relief!

I haven't really done much on this lately but summer coming up fast so getting some work done. So, amongst my mates stag do on friday and his wedding on sunday I managed to get a couple things done. I had to cut off the tabs for the oil tank and get some new ones, notch the seat bar and weld them in so they were higher because the chain was just going to be touching the oil tank. And then Dan came over to help me make a plan to rewire it and we started to make a battery/electrics box which I think I'll get my mrs to cover in canvas.








Also in that last pic you can see the new brake caliper. The old one wasn't going to work with the shape of the rigid frame so I got one from later model softail and modded it a bit to work. With the 0.5" wider rim and different width caliper I had to sort spacers to the rear all lined up and tight, which was easier than expected. All I ended doing was taking one spacer out and getting my brother to machine one down and it was perfect.

And got this old guard off some dude on Waiheke and have been cutting bits off it, still more work to do on that
