carb trouble

Hi - any advice on the following would be gratefully received.

Went out on the bike on Saturday to get a coffee, massive back fire coming to a stop at the lights. Engine died and haven't been able to start it since. Have pulled carbs apart, cleaned them and all appears in order - including the floats.

However, when I put the carbs back on and reconnect the fuel lines, petrol pisses out of the bowl overflow lines. It's never done this before.

It's also tricky to kick over - getting quite a bit of kick back which is also a new issue for this bike. On a few kicks it has almost fired, but doesn't catch...

Has anyone encountered anything like this before and any ideas on what could be causing the problem...

If petrol's pissing out I'd look at stuck needles or floats for a start.

same happened to mine a few weeks ago, fuel coming out the overflow. was a piece of rubber from the hose holding the needle open,

the kicking problem will be the extra fuel thats in the chamber
