Welcome in Les. You're far from the only one with a never ending project. I think we all need a bit of a kick to get us working. Lets see some pictures.

PostSubject: 1980 CB 750FA project   Howdy my name is Les EmptyTue Sep 30, 2014 9:41 am

Im building (rebuilding) a CB 750 FA Super Sport. it was in running order until i took it apart and started modifying it. It is now an 800cc with balanced crank performance valves con rods clutch reported re-jetted new springs new cams and 25kg of unwanted weight taken off (and im not talking about my gut). doing it up as a cafe racer as i found out my wife is not interested in going for rides so ill never have a pillion. Im at the point where things are just starting to go back together and im feeling overwhelmed. I know i just need to take it one step at a time but ive found out a few things that have pissed me off. the major is that on repainting i found out that the frame # dose not match the reggo and vin for the bike. so the fella i got it from so many years ago changed the frame without getting the reggo information changed. The local guy that dose my warrants never noticed it. Iv ridden this bike for over 10 years and never noticed myself so im thinking i might have a bit of head pain when i get it all back together.

I have a similar problem with one of my bikes. Someone covered up the first few numbers from the standard Harley VIN number and the rego paperwork just has the last part of the VIN (that wasn't covered with paint). I cleaned up the frame so you can see all the numbers and since it's not the same as the rego, they won't give me a warrant.

In the end I got a new replica 58 frame but I'm keeping the rego on hold on the swingarm frame in case I get round to it later.
