The Star Insurance Classic and Custom Bike Show

The Star Insurance Classic and Custom Bike Show is on for the weekend of 15th and 16th August 2015.

This will be the biggest motorcycle specific show in New Zealand and this year is showcasing “114 Years of Indian” with a large range of classic and vintage models right thru to the latest Indian new releases.

The show concentrates on Classic and Custom bikes, but will also display a wide range of modern marques.

The show includes the Classic Bike of the Year competition, and special awards for People’s Choice and Best Club.

Last year 300+bikes were on display and 20 clubs … this year we are aiming for 500 bikes plus!

Guys and Girls... We will be discussing at the meeting tomorrow, Sunday 10th May the possibility of entering a Grease Monkeys Club display at this show.

Irish Jon has a few bikes to enter, I will bring mine along also...
If you would like to enter your bike as part of the Club display, please come forward so we can arrange this.

The way I see it, it doesn't matter if your bike is the biggest or smallest, the oldest, the roughest or has the worst paint job.. our bikes are home made and cool as funk in their own way, that's what we as a Club are all about.

Sure there will be Clubs with shinny brand new bikes, or brand matching bikes.
We have a cacophony of bikes in varying states of dis/repair .. that's what makes us, us.

Let's make the most of this opportunity to promote our cause and maybe attract some new members.

Hot off the press is the required info for the Star Insurance Classic Bike Show.
We already have a few interested in including their bike/s as part of the Grease Monkeys display, for those who have not yet expressed an interest.. please do so ASAP.

I need to know, your bike - year, brand, model and what category you want to be entered into (from the list below) a contact email and phone number.
You must be prepared to get your bike to the venue (ASB Show grounds Greenlane) Friday August 14th between 9am and 9pm and leave it there until 5pm Sunday the 16th.


The following motorcycle categories will be shown:
• Veteran (up to end of 1918).
• Vintage (1919-end of 1931).
• Pre-war (1932-end of 1945).
• Post-war (1946-end of 1955).
• Classic I (1956-end of 1966).
• Classic II (1967-end of 1978).
• Post Classic (1979-end of 1990).
• Best Honda.
• Best Kawasaki.
• Best Suzuki.
• Best Yamaha.
• Best Continental.
• Best American.
• Best British.
• Best Off-Road.
• Best Japanese Dirt Bike.
• Best Scooter.

• Best Trike.

There will also be awards for:
• Peoples Choice.
• Best Club or Group Display.
• Classic Bike of the Year.
• Best in Show.

Things are coming along nicely with our preparation for the club display.
8 members have agreed to bring their bikes along to represent us, thank you.
We are going for a garage /shed theme for our display, with a few strategically place tools and broken or cut up parts laying around.. it should some us up nicely.

We have been allocated site 11, a picture can be found on our Facebook page, come along and support your fellow primates.

Sorry team I missed this post until today. My bike will be on display with Orb. Seems only right seeing as how he built it all.

Will be happy to catch up though it has been along time since I've seen any GreaseMonkeys besides Irish.

The Club continues to grow from strength to strength, regular meetings, mystery rides and the odd catch up for a beer here and there too.

We are at site 11, have 8 bikes on display and are looking forward to it.

For set up on Friday, exhibitors must enter through Gate 3 on Greenlane West Road & drive clockwise around the service road at the back of the exhibition halls. A map showing this is attached. The show is in Pavilions 3 and 4. Cars are to be unloaded here and enter the halls through the large rear doors, vehicles then continue along the road and park in the parking area adjacent to the Arena area or exit through Gate 1 (exit ONLY). Trailer and Transporter parking is available for the duration of the show.. Please only park in the Arena area. The main carpark for used for visitor parking during the show.

All passes must be collected and signed for between 9am and 9pm on Friday 14th August, from the show organisers. Exhibitor passes will NOT be mailed. Company ID may be requested to ensure that passes are given to the rightful person.

Each pass is for one person only. These passes must be submitted on arrival at the show. The one pass covers both Saturday and Sunday. The pass is for a single entry and will be punched on entry. If an exhibitor needs to leave the venue and return later on the same day, they will be given a pass out stamp, which must be shown on their return to regain entry. Exhibitors without a valid pass or pass out stamp for that day must pay for entry/re-entry at the gate.

Trailer Parking
Car trailers can be left around the outside perimeter of the parking area for the duration of the show. Exhibitor parking is at a premium, so please back trailers into the kerb as closely as possible. Any trailers dropped randomly in the car park area may be removed to make room for exhibitor car parks. Our Security Team will be patrolling the entire area, and the ASB Showground gates will be closed at night. Please do note that trailers should be locked during the day as this is a general parking area.
