I wonder if this will be an option in NZ?
I guess this would work for some people. But for a lotta people I think half the fun is doing it yourself.
I personally think Harley's paintjobs are very high quality, but still the DIY is probably more appealing to most/many.
Is this new marketing approach because of the state of the US economy?

I think it has more to do with Harley cashing in more on the "individuality" than the quality of bikes. It's long standing that they make their bucks selling a standard, with a gazzillion factory aftermarket parts.

I think you can do it. I know a guy who bought a new harley, and he was waiting for it to arrive fitted with it's new exhaust. It was ordered via a Christchurch shop that deals in Harleys.

They used to have an application based on the software that I work with, where you could pick all the optional parts as it was passing through the production line. You could follow the bike all the way through, including when it was shipped, so you knew exactly when it would arrive. It was very cool.
