| I'll be late to the meeting today, have to drop my Son off at his Mum's place. I'll be leaving from New Market just after 2, if anyone in the area wants to ride out together. Otherwise, see you there.

| At last the day came for our monthly meeting, the rain stayed away long enough to enjoy a ride out to Helensville with the melodic drone of a badly leaking exhaust at the header.
The numbers were few, but enthusiasm and spirits were high. Always great to meet new members and members I hadn't met, Hi to Septaorbis and Jon61.
Not too much of a design discussion took place, but the positive spin off is you still have time to add your ideas. With poop weather approaching, rather than spending a rainy Sunday with screaming cabin fever suffering kids and loved ones, why not drive (or ride) out to Helensville next month, enjoy a hot coffee and great company and lets jump start the Grease Monkeys Club project bike build. With our own projects in our sheds at home, it will be a refreshing break to have a look at the GM bike, you may even get some ideas for your own build.
If otherwise corrected, I believe the next monthly meeting will be Sunday the 10th May .. for all those available.. see you there.

| Thanks Sept, mulled wine does sound good! Are you thinking a sleep over at the workshop?Ā We really are in the early stages of something great with Grease Monkeys club, given the chance I'd spend as much time as I could around bikes and like minded folk... we have to keep in mind that we do have to work, and spend time with our wives and or girlfriends... they go a bit funny if neglected...Ā Sunday meetings just seemed to work for most people, but I can't see why we couldn't change the day one month given enough notice.Ā Jon will be the man to talk to, not sure what days he works etc...Ā Whatever the outcome, I'm keen. | Hell I'd drive out tomorrow after work to get the design process underway... when Jon sees this, I'm sure he will add his thoughts and availabilityĀ Ā I'm with you on this Sept, but it will be great to include as many members as possible. Coops | |

| Hi All At the risk of sounding like a tree hugging, humus eating, pens in top pocket wearing Mamma's Ā boy hell bent on military precise organizing, I'd like to propose a plan for this months meeting, Sunday 10th May. As what usually happens is, we all turn up, talk, check out each other's bikes, have a great time and ride off.... none of this is bad in the slightest but in the interest of getting stuff done would the following plan or topics to discuss/do work? Meeting at 1400 @ Salt Lake Cycles Workshop - Helensville. Any ideas relating to the club: Promoting the club Ā Ā Facebook page, advertising of the club on the internet (I think it's free) :arrow:Where to from here Ā Ā How can we maintain interest over winter months :arrow:Club events Ā Ā Club rides, shed raids, BBQ's :arrow:Club merchandise - T Shirts, stickers etc... :arrow:The Club bike build Ā Ā Ideas for design, who can do what in regards to fabrication etc An example of Club promotion, which I think could be a very good idea: HondaSteve came round to my place the other night to pick up his Club patch and mentioned it would be a good idea to have a Club business card or similar, something if you're out and about and get to talking with a fellow bike enthusiast, or see a cool homemade bike parked outside a shop etc, we could leave the owner with some info on our Club, forum address, Facebook page (when I sort it) what we do and why. Possibly not a good idea to leave such a card on a funked up bike with "FTW" and gang logos proudly displayed ... but you get the idea. Please, if anyone has any ideas or would like to share some advice, thoughts or gripes come forward. On a personal note, It is not my intention to try and take over this thing... I merely see it as I am just trying to keep the momentum going forward, I feel like I'm fairly active on the forums and possibly have a lot to say, but I only have the best and genuine interests at heart. If anyone is a tree hugging, humus eating, pens in top pocket wearing Mamma's Ā boy hell bent on military precise organizing.. please accept my apology if this offended you. Ā Cheers Coops | |

| Just a thought on the club build thing. There is a classic and custom bike show at the ASB show grounds on August 15/16. They are taking applications for individual bikes and club entries for the show. I am going to be taking 1 or 2 bikes of my own depending on how much I get done in the next couple of months. Might be cool to get a few more.
On the Saturday thing, its the only day I get to see my kid and I'm working 7 days a week so once a month on Sunday is pretty much all I can spare. No reason that people can't meet up anywhere ay any time though. | |

| Nice one Jon, I've added the event in the calendar, and think it would be a good idea to put the feelers out, who else is keen to put their bike on show... A Grease Monkeys Club display of bikes? sounds pretty cool to me. | |

| Thanks for the vote of confidence, not sure about “Fuhrer” I’m thinking more “Burodame” which, if Google translator is correct, means “Office Lady”. I’m just happy to see the club grow. | |

| Somebody's got to take charge and it's never been treated like it was someone trying to be the big man. Everybody was always happy to help out and were very appreciative that someone was supporting the scene and helping people stay in touch. It takes up a lot of your time so it's not easy. Your right about needing to run the meetings like actual meetings with agendas and actions. It might sound like a pain but it gets things done. It's a bit frustrating for everyone if they end up standing around waiting for something to happen. Think of yourself more like the chairman. The club members actually decide what happens but you help them keep it all organized. It all looks like it's heading in the right direction so keep up the good work. | |

| Wow what a day... today's meeting was very productive, for those unable to attend, here is what was discussed and where we are heading/planning. FacebookFind us on Facebook: Grease Monkeys - Bike Builders Club This is for all members nation wide to share pictures, comments, rides and comments. Admin is Myself, Septaorbis and HondaSteve. Business CardsWe are in the process of generating business like cards, the idea being if you meet someone who is like minded and into bikes, or see a cool bike parked on the street, we can leave them with information about our Club - Please be careful with handing these cards out when we get them, some may not appreciate our club as much as we do. Club AdvertisingWe are now listed on www.motorcyclealley.co.nz/clubs with a direct link to our forum. Bike rider MagazineRudra (Paul) has a contact we will be exploring with the possibility of an article about Grease Monkeys - Our Club. Hopefully Paul will keep us posted on any progress. Thanks Paul. VideoStefan (Septaorbis) and Rhys (Psychonaut) are going to produce a Club video for promotional purposes, and to be able to have a laugh at ourselves no doubt. this will take some organising and time. Club EventsWe are looking into entering a Grease Monkeys Club display at The Star Insurance Classic and Custom Bike Show, August 15th - 16th 2015 @ The ASB Showgrounds - Auckland, we need a minimum of 6 bikes to make this work: So far IrishJon, Myself, HondaSteve, Septaorbis and Psychonaut have said yes to bringing our bikes along... the more bikes we have the better, and it doesn't matter what it is, the bikes we build are the bike we ride. Grease Monkeys Club BikeWe will be painting and putting her back together in the coming months and entering her in the above event. We discussed more rides, Beer and Muscles - A enjoyable ride around Auckland finishing at Mission Bay for some Muscles and a beer or 2. Also discussed is the running of a Club Poker run, weather will dictate when we can do this.. but, the desire is strong to get together more often. Shed raids - Who's keen to host the first one? show us what you are building and enjoy some excellent company Club MerchandiseWe are looking at getting club T Shirts made, if anyone has contacts please feel free to help out, PM me for a PDF of our Club Patch. Club Patch/Logo on the front something written on the back that sums us up? Where to from hereWe discussed other possibilities in the form of hosting a Club event... early stages and will need to spread the word before we can gain the momentum we need. If anyone has any ideas, please share .. we all have a voice in what we do. I think that just about covers it... things are looking really good for the club. Keep it sunny side up, and ride safe. Coops. | |
